When was the last time you listened to your heart?

When was the last time you listened to your heart? Maybe it was when you decided to steal a treat from the cookie jar. Maybe it was when your little sibling poked you and started a war. Or maybe it was when you played with colors instead of thinking how they looked on you.  Or maybe it was when those little pennies in your pocket seemed like a lot and not just a few. Hey, maybe it was when your belly was full of butterflies after meeting a stranger's gaze. And maybe it was after that when your heart was broken and didn't want any more of that haze.  Maybe since then, you had stopped listening to your heart. But that won't make sure that from now in your life, the pain will never play any part. Sweetheart, it's okay that your heart made a mistake, But hey, one could only be so smart. So maybe it is time to make a new start. Because when was the last time you listened to your heart?

Dear Brother

On this day, dear brother,  Let's try not to fight, Oh, who am I kidding? Our bickering is our birthright! But without any fights today, Let's celebrate the bond we share, Even though I know that, Sometimes you don't even play fair! You have given me many gifts, Even the promises that are left are few, But make one more promise to me, It's something different, something new. You have always been my saviour. And I know you always will be, But from now on I want you, To protect every woman you see. And then one day, No woman will fear the unknown, No girl will be harmed, No sister will be alone. There are proud men of our country, Every day on the border, they make a sacrifice. And here in the country, my brother, Good men like you will suffice.  Now with that good promise, Let's move on to the gifts, Wait, did you really think, That I never made a list?

A Letter from a Father to his Daughter

I used to bounce you on my knees, Now you drive me around the city. You, my little girl, have grown up so much, Oh, isn't that just a pity! Your little feet entered my world, It is then I learned to make pigtails. I had a lot of tea parties since then, And I only got better on painting nails. Now you brush your own hair, And you don’t need your dad to pay your bills. I never wondered how much time has passed, Until I realized you’ve outgrown your cute, little frills. I might not be able to lift you up anymore, But my arms are still strong enough to wrap around you. Know that your father is always there to chase away your troubles, It has always been and it will always be true.

A Letter from a Mother to her Son

You can be two or twenty, But you'll be always my little boy. Know that your mother knows everything, No matter how much you act coy. You were so little when you entered this world, And now you've even outgrown me, Where once I used to cradle you in my arms, Now it's you who holds me. Now you lift the world in your arms, Now you share all the burdens with me, With you by my side, I feel like there's no lock, To which I can't find the key. But there comes a time when it feels too much, When you feel like lost in a sea, Remember your mother is always there for you, I've always been and I always will be.

I Asked The Moon

I asked the moon – Don’t you get lonely at night? He said – I have my stars with me, it’s the sun who feels aloof as he drowns in his own light. I asked the moon – Why don’t you like the sun and its cosmic sight? He said – The sun is dear to me but it just wasn’t in our destiny to unite. I asked the moon – How come you are so beautiful, even more than the stars? He said – You saw my beauty, but have you seen my scars? I asked the moon – Why can’t you see your beauty the way I do? He said – You also see the water but the water ain’t blue. I asked the moon – Don’t you feel grateful to live so up in the sky? He said – Things are not that happy here, I wonder though why. I asked the moon – Why can’t you just stay joyful with all your ethereal glory? He said – It’s not just about me, it’s every man’s story. I asked the moon – What has a man to do with it? He said – A man is never content since he always longs for more than his bit. I asked the m

Pink Love!

I wake up with a jolt and brush my teeth, Heat some water and wash away my sleep. While brushing my hair I wonder whether to curl, A quick glance at the watch and I know my plans won’t unfurl. So I doll up in a dress and slip into my heels, My shoes give me power, so amazing is how it feels. I put on some mascara and paint my lips, And twirl in front of a giant mirror like smoky wisps. With a tote on my arm and bounce in my feet, I pluck myself off and step out on the street. The sun smiles at me and the birds start to sing, The flowers dance merrily and trees stand like a king. I wave them a hello and start to skim, Maybe today is the day when I meet HIM. He’s the one, who visits me in my dream, A handsome knight and eyes full of gleam. I giggle and step inside the place where I work, Reading stories for a job has some of its perks. Today my hero has eyes like ocean blue, I sigh and wonder when I will meet YOU. I jerk out

Maybe It's You

An evening breeze hits me as such, Feels like that cold icy touch. It may not be or maybe its true, When my heart claims maybe it’s you. A gust of wind swirls around, Lifting my tresses with a cloaked bound. It can be a storm starting to brew, But my heart says maybe it’s you. I think about that day when we met, What follows my thought is a shadow, a silhouette. It is darker than the darkest hue, But then again I feel maybe it’s you. The air feels heavy making me choke, I see everywhere the billows of smoke. Am I the one stuck in a flue? Then why does it feel maybe it’s you. At night the moon casts a glow, And brings with it a shower of snow. Is it the heat of the sun that turns it into dew? Or the warmth coming from you? I feel it deep within my core, I’ve waited long enough to soar. Come and save me before I turn blue, There’s no maybe, I know it’s you.
